In anticipation of Poster House’s upcoming exhibition, Act Black: Posters from Black American Stage & Screen, Poster House members are invited to a private tour of The Gay Harlem Renaissance at The New York Historical.

This exhibition examines the Black LGBTQ+ artists, writers, and performers central to the Harlem Renaissance and to daily Black gay life in the early 20th century. The exhibition marks the centennial of The New Negro—the landmark 1925 anthology edited by Alain Locke—and traces the queer creativity, friendship circles, and mentorships that flourished in Harlem’s salons, social clubs, and thriving nightlife and that helped power the Harlem Renaissance.

This event will take place at The New York Historical, 170 Central Park West, at Richard Gilder Way (77th Street), New York, NY.

Accessibility Note: As this is an off-site event, masks and clear masks are available free of charge with prior notification. ASL (American Sign Language) interpretation or a CART.
