Poster House is pleased to announce its latest public programming initiative, First Fridays! Starting October 1, the museum will be open for free with extended hours on the first Friday of every month. Stop by and see our current exhibitions and join in the fun by attending an activity, workshop, or performance throughout the day. Every First Friday is different, offering unique opportunities to engage with rotating exhibitions and the permanent collection. Reserve your ticket or sign up for an activity today! 11am: Coffy Movie Screening
Join Poster House for a matinee screening of the Blaxploitation classic, Coffy. Starring the iconic Pam Grier in the titular role, this gritty, action-packed movie defined the genre and continues to influence cinema and culture to this day. Stop by the Café before the screening to enjoy a Mimosa & Matinee special! Space is limited for this intimate screening, so be sure to reserve your tickets ASAP!  *Note: Due to adult content, guests must be 18+ to attend this screening.

2pm: In-Person Archive Tour, $25
Don’t miss this rare and exclusive opportunity to get a behind-the-scenes look at Poster House’s permanent collection! Led by Collections Manager Melissa Walker, this intimate tour will give 10 people the chance to explore highlights from the museum’s collection of over 10,000 posters from around the world. Catch sneak previews of upcoming exhibition material, take a peek at recent acquisitions for the Living Archive, and get up close and personal with the museum’s growing collection. 5pm Fantasy Travel Posters Workshop
Inspired by the fantasy travel posters on display in The Push Pin Legacy, this workshop will guide participants through making their own travel posters for destinations both real and imagined. Led by artist, designer, and cultural worker M, this hands-on workshop will allow attendees to design a poster advertising their personal fantasy destination! n. 6:30pm DJ Ciara Chaii
Closing out First Friday is DJ Ciara Chaii! Join her by the Poster History Timeline as she spins hits inspired by the musical references in our current exhibitions. From disco to funk, Aretha to Mahalia,  DJ Ciara Chaii will make sure to send you into the weekend in true ‘70s style. Bring your dancing shoes and hit the floor!

This event is in person at Poster House, with masks required. Poster House operates in compliance with the Key to NYC mandate. All museum visitors older than 12 must show proof that they have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. Vaccination records and IDs will be checked upon entry. Proof of vaccination may include:
